Our programs and initiatives work together to ensure that Flint kids are guided by thriving families, educated in thriving schools, and supported in thriving communities. 

Flint Early Childhood Collaborative
The Flint Early Childhood Collaborative works to ensure that Flint kids thrive early. Through its core partnerships–Educare Flint and Cummings Great Expectations–the collaborative offers high-quality early childhood education, professional development, and support services to address the challenges posed by the city's water crisis.

Network for School Excellence
The Network for School Excellence is taking decisive action to drive student achievement, magnify effective solutions for schools, and confront systemic challenges that hinder school success. By utilizing improvement science and data-driven decision-making, the Network is working to radically improve academic outcomes for Flint children in school and beyond.

Community Education Initiative
The Community Education Initiative is transforming Flint-area schools into collaborative hubs where students, parents, educators, and community members work together to ensure Flint kids thrive. Through well-implemented integrated student support services, community education supports improvements in attendance, behavior, social well-being, and academic achievement.

Thrive Afterschool and Summer Programs
Thrive On and Thrive Up are two evidence-based afterschool programs designed to ensure Flint kids thrive beyond the traditional school hours. Thrive On is an elementary initiative that provides enriching activities aimed at boosting school attendance, improving academic achievement, instilling self-efficacy, and fostering family engagement. Thrive Up is the secondary school counterpart, catering to middle and high school students.

Community Council on Education
The Community Council on Education is a cross-sector group of community leaders working together to address various interconnected issues affecting education for Flint kids. The overarching aim of the Community Council is to improve access and outcomes for Flint kids by sharing power, aligning resources, and taking bold action to transform Flint’s educational ecosystem.

Flint Parent Collaborative
The Flint Parent Collaborative plays an instrumental role in amplifying the voices of parents, caregivers, and other caring adults in the lives of Flint kids to raise awareness about the issues and opportunities that impact the educational success of Flint kids. Developed and led by Flint families, the Flint Parent Collaborative advocates for improvements in services and policies that make the best possible educational opportunities available to Flint kids.
